Easter Food Blessing 2010

The tradition of Easter Food Blessing is based on the idea that being Lent is a time of fasting, prayer, and abstinence, the foods blessed are representative of the joyous celebration of Jesus Christ's Resurrection.

Traditionally the food is eaten after a family returns from celebrating their Easter Mass.  Most times it serves as a breakfast.

 Foods included in this are eggs, meats, bread (babka), deserts (chrusciki), kielbasy, ham, chocolate bunny, salt, pepper, horseradish, butter lamb, and other foods.

St. John's Men Participate in the 2nd Annual Catholic Men's Conference

A group of Men from St. John's attended the Archdiocese of Newark's 2nd Annual Catholic Men's Conference at
Seton Hall University.  More than 2,500 men from around the archdiocese attended.

Car Raffle Sponsored by St. John The Evangelist Church Development Committee. Tickets sales will start:

- at all the masses the weekend of March 20th,
- Knights of Columbus Fr. Ronald Gray Memorial Communion Breakfast at Peter Kramer Hall on March 21st after the 9:30 Mass
- and at the Basketball Dinner Sunday March 21st at 4:00pm at Peter Kramer Hall.

Raffle will take place June 13th,2010 at 1:00pm at Peter Kramer Hall. The winner will be presented with a certificate to pick a brand new 2010 VOLVO XC60 at Kundert Volvo of Englewood.

We, at St. John the Evangelist, are an inviting and welcoming Catholic community that comes together in the spirit and mission of Jesus Christ to share and live God's Word. We foster a deepening of faith and spirituality through prayer and the celebration of the sacraments.
