Easter Food Blessing 2010

The tradition of Easter Food Blessing is based on the idea that being Lent is a time of fasting, prayer, and abstinence, the foods blessed are representative of the joyous celebration of Jesus Christ's Resurrection.

Traditionally the food is eaten after a family returns from celebrating their Easter Mass.  Most times it serves as a breakfast.

 Foods included in this are eggs, meats, bread (babka), deserts (chrusciki), kielbasy, ham, chocolate bunny, salt, pepper, horseradish, butter lamb, and other foods.
