Rev. Christopher M. Ciccarino, S.S.L., S.T.D. Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology, Seton Hall University According to a legend stretching over 2,000 years, the remains of the apostle Saint Peter were believed to be buried beneath the Vatican Basilica of Saint Peter. Excavations undertaken in 1939 revealed a Roman graveyard — and the truth about the contents of the early Christian tomb found directly beneath the Basilica’s high altar. Father Christopher Ciccarino, a native of Scotch Plains, NJ, received his doctorate in Sacred Scripture from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He presently serves as an Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies at the Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology, Seton Hall University. All are welcome.
